OCCUPATIONAL FIRST AID TRAINING

Why should I do it ?
Regulation 56 of Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General
Application) Regulations 1993 state that “It shall be the duty of
every employer to provide, or ensure that there is provided and
maintained in every place where working conditions require it at
each place of work under his control such first aid equipment,
suitably marked and easily accessible, as is adequate and appropriate
in the circumsta nces for enabling first aid to be rendered to persons
at the place of work.” This includes the provision of trained
Occupational First Aiders (the number of which needs to be
determined by a workplace risk assessment .
Course Certification
The course is structured in accordance with the He alth and Safety Authority’s Guidelines on First Aid at
Places of Work and our instructors and examiners are on the National Ambulance Training School
Register. The course itself is of 3 days (24 hours) duration and upon successful completion of a written
and practical examination the attendees are awarded a n Occupational First Aid certificate which is valid
for three years from date of examination.

– The Circulatory System, Wounds and Bleeding, Shock &  Shock Management.
– The Respiratory System, Asphyxia & Choking.
– Adult CPR Checklist, The Recovery Position, Common Heart Disorders, One person CPR practice.
-U nconsciousness, Fainting, Head Injuries, Eye Injuries
-Fractures, Sprains, Strains and Dislocations.
-Burns and Scalds, Poisons, Electric shock.
-Medical Emergencies and Spinal Injuries.
